FRONTROOM
HIT AND HEART POINTS
Aline Witschi
Shaped and crystallised through a tactile, material-focused process, Aline Witschi (1995, Biel/Bienne)’s work hovers between futuristic messages and remnants of the past. Rooted in a rigorous, repetitive engagement with clay and taking inspiration from organic and cosmic forms as well as from marine and floral realms, her sculptures weave together elements of natural cycles, human patterns, and the verticality of time and space.

BACKROOM
SOMA3: Jessica Ekomane
The third episode of SOMA welcomes Berlin-based musician and sound artist Jessica Ekomane. She creates situations where the sound acts as a transformative element for the space and the audience. In the piece Figures / Ground (2018) the play with tempo configuration, impulses and rhythms seems to follow a certain logic, but experiences a break again and again and invites us into a trance-like state of perception over the duration of the piece.
Nested in the BACKROOM of KRONE COURONNE, SOMA is a vibrating listening platform that accommodates the practice and research of sound artists through 2025. Built as a result of curator Kristina Grigorjeva’s research that investigates the emancipatory and transformative potential of different listening practices, SOMA invites to listen, linger, vibrate and hear collectively in a shared, plural, response-able and care-full context.

RELAX (chiarenza & hauser & co)
Sammlung Stadt Biel/Collection Ville de Bienne
As part of our collaboration with the collection of the City of Biel/Bienne, we are pleased to present useme–a set of portable pillow-like objects by RELAX (chiarenza & hauser & co). Conceived for the 7th Architecture Biennial in Venice in 2000, useme highlight the link between physical posture and thought processes, designed as “crumple zone” between body and environment. Based in Zurich since 2003, RELAX (chiarenza & hauser & co) is a collective founded by Marie-Antoinette Chiarenza and Daniel Hauser.
